Golf Guru or Social Media Master?
Hannah Craver is a senior captain on the Appalachian State Women's Golf Team. She is a Public Health major and her favorite past time is scrolling through social media.
She has a very important role on the App State Women's golf team including leading the team to victory and documenting it on social media. The team has a Facebook, Twitter and an Instagram account that keeps their fans up to date on all their successes.
I interviewed Hannah about her role on the golf social media accounts and her responses are below:
How often do you post to the golf social media accounts?
I try to post at a few times a week. When we are traveling to and from tournaments, I tend to post more in order to keep our fans updated on our day and our tournament rounds. Our entire team loves to take pictures, so we always have many pictures to choose from.
Is there a platform that you prefer to use and why?
I prefer Instagram over the others because in today's society, we take more pictures to show others what we have been doing. Instagram has become one of the most popular social media apps in the past year so we are able to reach a majority of our fans through Instagram. They always say, "a picture is worth a thousand words".
Out of the Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, which do you get the most interaction from your audience?
Instagram and Twitter are the two social media forms that we get the most interaction from our audience. They have become popular in the last year along with being able to tweet back to our fans. We also use our social media account to wish other App State teams good luck in tournaments or to send congratulations.
Will you respond to comments or messages on the account?
Yes, I really focus on having 2 way communication with our audience. We want to show our appreciation to our fans and that is one easy way that we can do so. I think that by sending a comment in return allows for a good relationship between the team and our fans.
Does anyone assist you with posting on the different accounts?
Yes, the team helps out with postings in order to bring fresh ideas. Everyone is equal on our team and we will make sure that everyone's voice is heard. Our team loves to share ideas to make the pictures "spunky" by adding filters and fun edits.
Social media is a large part of today's society. In college, parents and fans have an easier time keeping up with the team and their favorite players on social media. Facebook, Twitter and Instagram have the capability to share photos and statuses to their followers. This is the best way to reach people from all over the world.
