Driving Your Website to Success

Want some extra 'yards' on your website?

Are you hosting a tournament any time soon?

Do you know what the best way to attract and please your audience is?

I have what you're looking for!

Hosting a tournament is stressful enough without worrying about your website set-up.

Think to yourself, why are you building the site? What are users looking for?

And finally, who will use the site?

Your goal is to attract golfers and their parents. When players and parents are searching for tournaments to add to their schedule they want it to be easily accessible and self-explanatory to sign up.

Start by putting all important information on the top left of the screen. You know how everyone reads from left to right? Viewers will spend 70% of their time on the top left of the site. This is where you should put a sign up button or have an advertisement about your upcoming events. This is especially important when people are viewing your website on their mobile devices. The website will condense from left to right so everything on the left side of the page will be at the top of the mobile screen.

Here is an example of Peggy Kirk Bell's website. They have their menu set up so it is clear and easy for their viewers to navigate. Take a look at their website as an example: http://www.pkbgt.org/

Your main goal is to get players to sign up for tournaments, but after they do this there are other things to think about. Player profiles, media, live scoring, final results, rankings, and membership opportunities. You want return customers and the easier your website is to navigate, the better!

I suggest having all of your options in the menu bar across the top of the page. BE CAREFUL! You do not want to overload your menu bar. Research shows that viewers will click the button on the far left and the far right. The middle options get little to no attention, so plan carefully.

Parents will be viewing the site more often and you want to make everything as smooth as

a two-foot putt.

Trust me, you'll earn your "bread and putter" by following these tips!!
