My Work
This page displays a variety of my work I have completed at Appalachian State University. The "mock" documents are projects I created for a class assignment that the business or organization did not use. Please contact me with any questions.
Mock Wine To Water Fact Sheet
A fact sheet is useful information about an organization compiled for release to the public. I used my research skills to find information on the non profit organization, Wine To Water. My goal was to establish credibility by using only facts and persuading the targeted audience.

Mock Turchin Center Press Release
A press release is like a sales tool. I wanted to promote the event at Turchin Center as well as provide the public with information they need to know. Using AP Style, I checked my grammar and spelling to make sure it was ready to be released to the Boone and Appalachian communities.

Mock Mast General Q&A ft. Robert Jordan
The purpose of the Question and Answer article with Mr. Jordan was to release it to Mast General Store's target audience. This type of article would be appropriate on social media or in a magazine article. I wanted to portray a client-business relationship as well as Mr. Jordan's positive experiences with Mast General products. I used skills I learned in public Relations writing such as punctuation, sentence structure and how to format a Q&A article.

High Country Grizzlies Crisis Plan
Creating the High Country Grizzlies crisis plan was a group effort. During this project I learned the importance of communicating with group members and how to divide and conquer the work. Productivity in group projects is very important. Each person had a role and in the end it worked very well. We created a plan for the Grizzlies and they implemented segments of it into their business model.

Mock Appalachian State Athletics Pamphlet
I created this in Media Graphics because I am an athlete and I wanted to create something for the department I work closely with. I broadened my skills in InDesign and showcased some specifics about Athletics. I made sure to fact check or use information relevant to their target audience, such as alumni.

Wine To Water Backgrounder
This is one example of a backgrounder I wrote in Public Relations Writing for my final media kit project. I had to use research skills and AP Style to check quality of writing. The backgrounder can help inform consumers who do not know the history of Wine To Water.

Mast General Store Backgrounder
For the Mast General Store backgrounder, I researched all the stores and the history. I also included a section on what Mast has to offer which will draw in consumers from all over the US. Writing the backgrounder gave me more experience in PR Writing as well as reaching a target audience.

Mock Peggy Kirk Bell Website Re-design
Re-designed the Peggy Kirk Bell Girls Golf Tour website. The original website was very cluttered and hard to find information, quickly. While building a website from scratch I learned how to minimize content and followed basic rules such as the three-click rule. This rule is to make sure people stay on your site before getting frustrated they cannot find what they are looking for. I have started to design websites for local businesses that do not have big money to pay a company to create a website for them.
